Waimea Glass Studio is based in Nelson - New Zealand and is run by German stained glass artist Dieter Bedenknecht. Dieter trained as a glazier by trade, before he discovered his passion for stained glass. Dieter spezialises in the copperfoil technique, which allows him to work with very intricate designs. He has been involved in stained glass for over 30 years and his passion is making tiffany reproduction lampshades. Some of these lampshades are very labour intensive and can take him several months to complete. Apart from tiffany lampshades, Dieter also designs his own lampshades, windows, mirrors and gift items, making his studio quite unique as he rarely uses designs out of books. Dieter also has a very keen eye for color combinations and glass textures, which he combines carefully to make his pieces radiantly warm and full of life. His works are beautifully finished and are of the highest standard possible.

Waimea Glass Studio is run both as an artistic studio, where Dieter designs special one off pieces for his customers and also commercially, to earn his everyday living. For the commercial side of his business Dieter works closely together with glaziers, joiners and kitchen cabinet makers around New Zealand, supplying these with doorpanels and cabinet panels made at wholesale prices.
