copyright :Dieter Bedenknecht -NZ. -06-2000 Copperfoiling Before you start with copperfoiling make sure the glass pieces are dry and clean.Then select the copper foil (for all the designs in this book the copper foil is 7/32 inch foil).There are other thicknesses of foil available: 3/16 inch a thin foil used mainly for intricate lampshades 7/32 inch used for window hangings, not so intricate lampshades, windows and doorpanels especially for the coloured glasses, which are about 3 to 3.5mm thick. 1/4 inch used for thicker glass that you may use in windows or doorpanels The copper foil has an adhesive and non-adhesive side, wrap the adhesive side around your glass piece starting at a corner, while you do this press down the edges of the foil.When you come to the end of the glass piece cut of a little more of the foil and overlap at your beginning, then with a pencil smooth down the foil. Hints : Allways hold the glass piece you are foiling in front of you and make sure that the glass is in the middle of the foil and that you evenly foil both sides. |
